« The Earth teaches us more about ourselves than all the books can. » Quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry; Terre des hommes (1939)
It all started with my father. He cultivated vines to make his own wine. One day, he decided to pull out a part of his vines. Not having declared this to the competent authorities, the latter obliged him to either pay a heavy fine or to replant the vines as a compensation. In 1970 with the first fruits from the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée Irouleguy, he chose to replant the vines with the help of Alexandre Bergouignan, founding member of the Irouleguy wine cellar.
This is why today nearly 30 years on I took over this family run cultivation with the support of my wife and my parents.
In my neighbourhood, my vine yard is a meeting place. From spring to autumn my neighbours, friends and family regularly come to help me with my daily tasks. It’s an opportunity to meet up and enjoy festive moments together!
Incidentally, while my friends and family were enthusiastically helping me work in the vine yards, as the work was up to date, I didn’t need to return to work in the vine yards for more than a week. So for the first time mildew (vine disease) had the time to establish itself. How ironic!
Protective of my vines, of their environment and through respect for the consumer, I care about responsible farming so I limit my treatment dosages.
An active member of the Irouleguy wine cellar, I participate in the decision making through my involvement in the administration board, from the harvest meetings to the vinification meetings. I highly appreciate the exchanges between the different generations in the wine cellar. These very valuable relationships add value to the cooperative.

The wines from the Cellar are the fruit of the work and the values from which the wine growers and the members of the cooperative personally identify themselves.
