« A grape vine which sees another ripens. » (a Byzantine proverb)
Until recently, wine growing was something unknown to me. When I was seventeen, my first professional experience was in the Irouleguy Wine Cellar, as a seasonal worker, as a sales assistant in the shop and in vinification in the warehouse. This was where to my surprise, I discovered my taste for wine and wine growing.
I decided to study for a HND in Viticulture and Oenology in Blanquefort.
Back in the Basque Country, my adventure continued as a wine employee in the vines in the domaine Etchegaraya (AOC Irouléguy), in the vines of the domaine de Mignaberry (member of the Irouleguy Wine Cellar), and especially in the domaine Arretxea (AOC organic Irouléguy), where I really built up my knowledge over the course of the last eight years.
At the same time, working for myself for 4 years, I started out with only 3200 square metres of planted surfaces.
Last December, my history with the vine made a big turning point, my father-in-law Pierre Laxague, gave me more than 80% of his plots, 6 hectares planted with three red grape varieties (Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon).
Furthermore from this year, I have started a conversion to organic farming over a 3 year period in order to work in healthy conditions that are respectful to the environment.
An active member of the Irouleguy Wine Cellar, I am on the vine and investment committee. We are excited about a new project, that of the warehouse vinfication renovation. With help from the experience of our elders, we are a team of young members drawn together to mark this new page in the history of the Irouleguy Wine Cellar...

The wines from the Cellar are the fruit of the work and the values from which the wine growers and the members of the cooperative personally identify themselves.
