What about me and vines? Our story started in 1995. I was 28 years old. An Agriculatural Cooperative project had been started at the Irouleguy wine cellar. The idea being to offer a low cost installation to the wine grower members.
I remember that at that time, a meeting had been organised and that I was the only candidate present. Little by little the idea snowballed into people’s minds and several members joined the project.
This cooperative enabled me to plant my first vines, 3 hectares in total. As a novice in the field, I was able to learn the techniques thanks to the know-how of my father and my neighbours.
3 years later, I planted 1.70 hectares of additional vines on family land and I joined the Irouleguy wine cellar board of directors.
In 2004, hoping to develop my business further, the opportunity arose to manage a duck breeding farm. Now 10 years later I manage the Agerria farm in Irouleguy in the Basque Country.
Since last year, I offer tours around my vineyards. From May to October I welcome groups of tourists aboard an electric car to show them around my vineyard. The visit finishes with a tasting session of Irouleguy wines and duck-based products from my farm. This year there will be a change in the program as I will also offer visits around the Irouleguy priory, the birth place of the appellation.
But the story doesn’t end there as in 2018 I plan to plant 2.30 hectares of additional vines in white grape varieties.

The wines from the Cellar are the fruit of the work and the values from which the wine growers and the members of the cooperative personally identify themselves.
